Social value

We understand the impact that each of us can make in our local communities. That’s why we always look to partner with our clients and supply chain, joining together to drive improvements.

Operating ethically and efficiently

We work to reduce air, light and noise pollution and distress as much as safely possible during our operations. We strive to procure the equipment and materials we need sustainably and ethically – while ensuring we keep waste to a minimum. We always respect the cultural heritage and history on our rail network when undertaking essential maintenance work.

Giving back to our local communities

From supporting youth football, to raising money for charity – it’s important to us that we help local initiatives.

Our Rail team have supported local hospices and charities such as Strathcarron Hospice and Diabetes UK, all of which are close to their hearts. To put this support into action, each colleague is also given one day’s paid leave each year to work with a local initiative to provide hands-on help.

Supporting Barnsley Hospice

When he’s not managing projects for our clients our Rail Operations Manager Brett Hawke is busy coaching the Barnsley FC Ladies Under 13 football team. Keen to help the local community, Brett and the team fundraised throughout January to support Barnsley Hospice – challenging themselves to walk 3 million steps in 28 days.

Ensuring equal opportunity

It’s important to us that people from all walks of life are given the same opportunities to progress. This means ensuring that we’re doing all we can to attract applications from diverse backgrounds, working with our clients to identify opportunities to think differently.

Our Group approach

We’re proud to be part of the NRL Group, aligning our operations with the corporate and social responsibility commitments of the wider Group. From seeking opportunities to provide recruitment opportunities in the local area, to caring for our communities – we aim to make a difference.
